    Trade Agreement with Spain

Post by Dave McCoy on Sat 5 Jul 2008 - 18:56

I've been approached by SaToNiO, Minister of Economics from Partido Media Vida.

He wishes to know if eNorway would like to initiate an trade agreement with eSpain.
Personally I think this would be a good thing for us, our local market is suffocating itself, and we need to establish more ways for the industry to sell their goods.

I've not gone out with this in Congress yet, I'd like to wait until all ministers are formal and we are settled in.

What do you mean, I love selling food at 0.05 NOK *sarcasm* Wink

    I'll support this agreement.

Maybe you could contact Vaclav in the Czech Republic as well, most of their markets remain untapped and I'm certain you can get a 0% rate without much worry about being out competed at home.

Downside is the C.R. is such a small market (151 citizens).

That's still 151 citizens in need of food and goods.. Wink I'll contact Vaclav and hear if the Czech Republic would be interested in business.

Looks like you`re doing a good job, Dave. Have you thought of any other countries to make trade agreements with? The U.K. perhaps?

It's still work in progress. I'm in the progress of evaluating the markets and getting an understanding of what I'm actually looking for.
I also think we should start out slow, to see what the effect of those agreements will have on the norwegian industry and economy in general.

I thought it was the foreign companies that started underpricing others and initiated the price war in eNorway ?

Couldn't a lot of new tradeagreements backfire for us?

As of current the only trade agreement we have, are with Greece, and the only actor on their market is Binary.
Currently we have stockpiles of commodities at our market, and the prices are falling. There are few foreign actors on our market, and I think we see such prices due to Binary growing so large, and having huge stockpiles that they suffocate the rest of our industries by pressing the prices to low.

I believe we should start out slowly, with just a couple of new trade agreements to see the effect on our economy. Of course, if new actors on our market under the trade agreement should start underpricing our market or perform in an disturbing way, we would have to take measures, such as opening discussion with their goverment, the corporation i question and if all fails, consider pulling the trade agreement.

Seems I'll have to be careful within our own ranks first, I went out with the proposals a bit early, before I had all the information ready it seems. I thought I used all the information available to me, but I completely forgot about if any companies already had exports licenses with said countries.

What about asking all companies who have exports licenses to put them self up in a list you make, (someplase in the open forum....), and every time anybody bay an export license, they have to put them self up there.

In that way we always know, and we dont have to find out eveytime we will vote for a trade agreement, its just to see on the list.

    Just a tought Smile
and I'll support this agreement with Spain, hope the congress do the same.

I can't find an overview of companies with an export license, I've contacted Sjefen in case the presidential view of the game provides any such information.
I'll have to say eRepublik may be a hard place gathering information from sometimes.

As far as I can see now, I have to look at each company to see if they have an export license. And that's something I want to avoid.. :p

    Isn't eRepublik's setup great! Wink

I'm not sure but I think there is an easier way, I'll check it out right now.
